Mindful Mutterings #9

Read the lie. Then read the scripture and the bolded Greek or Hebrew definitions. Meditate on them for a few minutes. Denounce the lie and pronounce the truth. Do you see an additional lie or truth? Write it down. Denounce the lies and mutter the truths under your breath several times a day for at least 21 days, until you know them by heart. Try to memorize the scriptures (at least memorize the main idea). When Satan or anyone else (including you) speaks the lie, mutter the truth in response. THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE!
*Definitions are taken from Strong’s Exhausted Concordance which is based on the KJV. I’ve used corresponding words in different versions.

The Lie (1)

I’ve tried to believe, but I may as well give up. Nothing is ever going to change.

The Truth:

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Hope: expectation

Speak the Truth:

By the power of the Holy Spirit, I am super-abounding with hope!

The Lie (2)

I don’t have to ask God for what I want. He’ll give it to me without my asking.

The Truth:

James 4:2 . . . You do not have, because you do not ask.

Ask: crave, desire, require

Speak the Truth:

God wants me to ask Him for what I want. I expect Him to answer. Yes or no.

The Lie (3)

I should only ask God one time. If I ask again, it shows I didn’t have faith the first time.

The Truth:

Matthew 7:7 Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking [reverently] and [the door] will be opened to you.

Ask: crave, desire, require

Speak the Truth:

I will keep asking God until the answer comes! Whether yes or no
