Mindful Mutterings #8

Accompanies post: Being Content and Why You Shouldn’t Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth!

Read the lie. Then read the scripture and the bolded Greek or Hebrew definitions. Meditate on them for a few minutes. Denounce the lie and pronounce the truth. Do you see an additional lie or truth? Write it down. Denounce the lies and mutter the truths under your breath several times a day for 21 days, until you know them by heart. Try to memorize the scriptures (at least memorize the main idea). When Satan or anyone else (including you) speaks the lie, mutter the truth in response. THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE!
*Definitions are taken from Strong’s Exhausted Concordance which is based on the KJV. I’ve used corresponding words in different versions.

The Lie (1)

I deserve to have nice things, so I’ll put it on the credit card.

The Truth

Hebrews 13:5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Content: be enough

Speak the Truth:

Lord, thank you for what you have given me. I’ll be content because I know You will meet all my needs.

Lie (2)

I’ve earned everything I have.

The Truth

James 1:17  Every good gift and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights.

Every: All

Speak the Truth:

Lord, everything I have has come from You. Thank you!

The Lie (3)

I just can’t thank God for what I’m going through right now.

The Truth

I Thessalonians 5: 18 In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Speak the Truth:

God I praise you for my circumstances because I know you’re working it all out for my good.
