Mindful Mutterings #1
Accompanies post: What Happens if We Sin and We Can’t Undo It
Read the lie. Then read the scripture and the bolded Greek or Hebrew definitions. Meditate on them for a few minutes. Denounce the lie and pronounce the truth. Do you see an additional lie or truth? Write it down. Denounce the lies and mutter the truths under your breath several times a day for 21 days, until you know them by heart. Try to memorize the scriptures (at least memorize the main idea). When Satan or anyone else (including you) speaks the lie, mutter the truth in response. THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE!
*Definitions are taken from Strong’s Exhausted Concordance which is based on the KJV. I’ve used corresponding words in different versions.
The Lie (1)
I have no right to be happy because I’ve made too many sinful choices
Romans 4:8 Blessed and happy and to be envied is the person of whose sin the Lord will take no account nor reckon it against him. Amplified
Reckon: take an inventory
Truth: I can live a blessed and happy life because God is not keeping a list of my sins.
The Lie (2)
I don’t feel God’s presence, so He must not be directing my life.
Psalm 139:7-10 Where could I go from your Spirit? Or where could I flee from your presence? . . . If I take the wings of the morning or dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, Even there shall Your hand lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. Amplified
Presence: the face
Truth: God is leading me and holding me up, even when I don’t feel His presence.
The Lie (3)
God will withdraw His grace if I continue to sin.
Romans 11:29 For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.] Amplified
Truth: God does not “uninvite” me into His grace.
